SKI: Wild Energy Live

SKI is a Polish duo of melodic progressive noise. It consists of Damian Kowalski on drums and Szymon Szwarc on electronics. Their sensibility is at home on the club scene, though it seeks out innovation and new musical solutions. In the character of its sound, SKI traces its origins to dub and techno, with the ultimate goal of synthesizing rhythm sections with analog-digital logics. Still, their main creative signature is the live performance. Wild energy, spontaneity, openness, experiment – these are some of the hallmarks of their acts.

The new album by the duo SKI, FEVDVM BVRGER, to be released in 2027, is music built on the dominance of the amplified drum. From this, together with authorial intuition and a search for expression, sonic textures akin to electronic circuits take shape. Repetition becomes a kind of backbone of the musical structure. Incoming audio channels are deliberately overloaded, while the human – that is, authorial – factor defines the context of action and reaction between machine and human. Analog impulses processed through electronic and digital tools shape an entirely new soundscape, thereby also defining a new culture of listening.

An important element in the creation of SKI's sound is the layers of samples and synthesizers injected into a single whole. Since its founding in 2023 and numerous guest appearances, the band has striven for sonic refinement, shaping new spaces and bringing an unexpected coloring to its tracks. Sidestepping expected conventions, inventiveness, and a considerable dose of courage are written into the DNA of their expression. The end result is a listenable fluidity, surprise, organicity. One thing is certain: with SKI you can easily dance – or at least bounce along.
